This is the rare UK 1st press of ‘Honky Chateau’ by Elton John. This earliest press is complete with the very earliest and true 1st A2/B2 matrix, with Babil and Rasputin hand engraved in the run-out. The vinyl is translucent red when held to the light and the label has the wide rim around the outside. The vinyl is complete with the original inner sleeve and Garrod & Lofthouse envelope style textured sleeve.
The record is in Excellent condition. The vinyl is superb, extremely glossy, with the original deep clear grooves. There are one or two wispy marks but these have little effect on what is a superb rare 1st press. The label is jet black with bright yellow text and a little spindle wear.
The record sits completely flat on the turntable and when played the sound quality is Excellent. There is sensational audio separation and it plays exceptionally clear from start to finish. There are tiny brief moments of a background noise, largely just static, but this is brief and rarely noticeable, it sounds superb.
The 1st press envelope style sleeve is in Excellent condition. The picture is entirely unworn and the cream is extremely bright. There is the slightest corner and edge wear. The inside is superb and the inner folding edge is firm without wear. The whole sleeve is very solid and the spine is firm with clear text. 526 (GS 6.6.6 (526))
