ELO : Out Of The Blue A1 / B1 / C1 / D3 1st Press Special Edition Blue Vinyl w/ Complete Space Station + Poster 1977
This first press special edition plays with stunning quality across all four sides. S1, S3 & S4 play with a clarity, depth and warmth that is as close to perfect as is possible and S2 is only marked down (very slightly) because one track has a little light static on one intro and there are a small number of minor statics also, nothing intrusive. This truly is a stunning example of this iconic pressing and the blue vinyl still has that lovely, deep and radiant colour.
The gatefold (with sticker) is in great condition and the only 'issue' really is a little creasing by the bottom left corner on the back cover. However, the true star of the show is the intact push-out 'Space Station'. It is so rare to find a complete one and it remains in fantastic condition. The original poster is in excellent condition also.
The only slightly frustrating aspect is that an inefficient so and so put two S3/S4 lyric inners in with this album. They are however in excellent condition. The blue vinyl pressings had die-cut inners but if the winning bidder would like a S1/S2 inner I do have a replacement from a black vinyl pressing but it does have rounded corners. Just let me know...
An interesting point of note is that this double album has an A1/B1/C1/D3 matrix. On Discogs I cannot find another with an A1 stamper and even the 3 looks like it is covering a 1. Who knows maybe a rare pressing.

Visual description
The vinyls are in excellent condition and still have that bright, vivid blue colour with no obvious marks or scratches. Under a bright light I can see some very faint hairlines - the first record maybe a few more plus there is one faint blemish on S1 but it has no affect on the superb audio. The Jet labels are very clean with only minimal spindle wear.
Play grading
The run in on S1 has no background and the intro on 'Turn To Stone' then plays with stunning clarity and depth, there is not even a dust tick. The opening vocal is perfect as is the following chorus and it continues to play with impeccable quality. No exaggeration this is as good as new and yep the depth and resonance of the audio is incredible! The fade out has no background either. A Mint version for sure.
The orchestral intro on 'It's Over' is basically perfect with only a couple of barely audible statics and it then plays with a clarity and definition that is second to none. In saying that I've just heard one light tick near the end but you could easily miss unless you were listening intently. The quiet end vocal is flawless. Mint-
'Sweet Talkin' Woman', the third classic in a row, plays with unbelievable audio from start to finish and 'Across The Border' is equal to that with no intrusion. Even the quiet intro plays beautifully. Both grade as Mint
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro on 'Night In The City' has a couple of seconds of light static at the very start and the plays to near perfection. A couple of minor statics in two of the 'pauses' but still easily a Near Mint version.
'Starlight' is very similar with only a handful of minor statics. In a way it seems a little harsh to downgrade because they are are so quiet - they are not ticks or clicks! A little bit of crackle towards the end of the fade out so I'll say Near Mint-
The intro on 'Jungle' has only minimal light static and from then on plays with stunning precision. Ex+ at the start and Mint for the rest of the track.
The instrumental 'Believe Me Now' has no background and 'Steppin' Out' plays so clearly with no intrusion, just some mega light statics which are mainly on the intro anyway. They are very very quiet! I will grade these two as Mint and Near Mint respectively.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The intro on 'Standin' In The Rain' is so quiet and yet it plays with amazing clarity and the level does not drop as it continues. A couple of hardly noticeable statics but I have never heard a more 'complete' version. The quiet ending is as good as the quiet intro! Mint
'Big Wheels' also plays with breathtaking quality and 'Summer And Lightning' is just as impressive. So far this side is playing with STUNNING quality, the clarity and depth of the audio is out of this world... which is quite apt! Mint
The quiet segue into 'Mr. Blue Sky' is perfect and this classic then plays 'as new' without any background. Even if there was a minor tick I would mention it - for a final track the sonic quality is incredible including the orchestral ending. Mint is again deserved, wow what a version!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Sweet Is The Night' on S4 plays with sublime clarity and definition (you know the grade) and 'The Whale' then plays with outstanding audio also. There are a handful of very quiet statics on the intro but from then on it is close to perfect with only a couple more background statics. Near Mint
'Birmingham Blues' is up next which is essentially faultless with only 3/4 barely audible statics and 'Wild West Hero' closes this classic album with sensational audio. Again. These final two tracks grade as Mint and I cannot emphasise enough just how well they play. Perhaps a modicum of minor inner groove distortion towards the end but nothing intrusive. What an album - not bad for blue vinyl!
The Gatefold, Fold-out Space Station, Poster & Lyric Inners
The cover is in excellent condition with minimal wear. The edges have very light rubbing only and the spine is still strong and wide with just one small mark near the top. The corners have only a little wear and and most obvious is some creasing in the bottom left corner on the back cover. The opening edges are close to perfect and the front cover is very clean with one small white mark top left, a small amount of surface rub next to the spine and a small crease in the two right hand corners. The back cover is superb apart from the corner crease bottom left and very minor rubbing in the other corners. The inside of the gatefold is immaculate, it's a very strong example overall and as you can see the original sticker is still perfectly attached to the front cover.
The push-out cardboard Space Station is in remarkable condition when you consider how flimsy it is. I was scared to handle it because the individual pieces could so easily fall out! It's LP sized and folds out of course and all the sections are perfectly intact. It's more or less 'as new' with only a couple of tiny edge rubs and some minor creasing in one corner. The poster is in excellent condition with no marking and has just one long-ish corner crease bottom left, only faint though.
The two S3/S4 lyric inners are in excellent condition with no side splits or tears. One of them has a tiny rub on the bottom edge and they both have minimal ringwear. Some light spotting around the thumb notches also. The 'replacement' S1/S2 inner is in very good condition with one bottom edge split... if the winning bidder would like to have it :-)

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
