For auction here a terrifically rare copy of Elkie Brooks' second ever single "He's Gotta Love Me/When You Appear" recorded as a one off for the HMV label in 1965, never on an album, and now very highly sought after by both Northern Soul collectors and mod archivists.
It is a HUGE gutsy tune, now quite rightly revered in specialist clubs and though it would be some years before Elkie achieved the recognition she deserved this wonderful full-on performance shows the potential was always there.
This copy is in MINT condition. The vinyl is ultra bright and glossy, no scratches or scuffs whatsoever, there are NO spider lines around the centre hole so it is very possibly never been played. The labels are as new, deep black, free from rips, writing or fade. It comes in its original HMV company bag that is still crisp and clean. All in all a remarkable find for a disc over half a century old.
Elkie Brooks has her own dedicated collectors but this record is of terrific interest to so many genres there should be quite a clamour to own this piece of 45rpm UK pop history. Not just a rare original copy but one in immaculate shape.
