ELECTRIC SANDWICH (Brain 1018) Dieter Dierks RARE Krautrock German 1st Pressing EX+
RARE German first pressing of Electric Sandwich`s self-titled debut album on Brain Records (1972). Never re-released, this record is a RARE find in any condition!
The sole album from a sax/singer dominated quartet band that was born out of myriad jam sessions, Electric Sandwich is an example of what made Germany's early 70s scene so special. Signed up by the legendary Brain label in 1972, their eponymously-titled album was produced by legendary sound engineer Dieter Dierks.
The band's raw and relatively loose soundscapes are reminiscent of Guru Guru's early work, with the opening eight minutes of "China" sound like an outtake from that band's UFO album, but sometimes also of the excellent Out Of Focus (the six-minute "Devil's Dream"), or some rough blues rock outfit in the Ten Years After vein ("Nervous Creek"). The flipside is centred on more standard-song-formatted dreamy psych-blues by band-leader and saxophonist Jochen Carthaus. Overall, it doesn't quite match up to Side One, despite still sounding perfectly charming to any progressive set of eardrums.

- Original laminated gatefold sleeve with unlaminated inner.
- A number of creases to the spine, as well as to the top and (especially) bottom edges.
- A bit of scuffing to the front bottom edge and corner (at right).
- Also includes a plastic-lined inner sleeve in undamaged EX condition.
EX RECORD, carefully played over the years.
- Visually excellent vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- Play-graded at loud volume as very fine EX+ condition.
- Light general hairlining from sleeve removal, as well as some visible, superficial scuffing.
- Absolutely no scratches whatsoever! No recurring clicks or pops!
- Light background crackle in the run-in, as well as in between some tracks.
- Original first-pressing olive green Brain Records labels with no visible spindle wear at all.
- Small residue spot on label of Side One, from sticker removal.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "st-1018-A - 0664.197 s1 - PF" and "st-1018-B - 0664.197 s2 - PF".
- This issue of "Electric Sandwich" is fully certified to be a very first German pressing, released in 1972.
