EGG ? The Polite Force ? Original 1971 UK Deram Records Prog Psych DAVE STEWART
1971/UK/Deram Records SML 1074….. here’s a clean original UK pressing of this rare lp. The thin fragile laminated cover is in VG++ condition with some light shelf wear, light shelf soiling on the white back, three light thumb creases on front near right side, a couple of small scuff marks at the bottom, the spine is perfect and readable and the corners are square, the cover is solid and clean with no splits or delete. The vinyl is in glossy Excellent new looking condition with a handful of near invisible light inaudible sleeve lines and otherwise looks glossy and new with a deep black gloss, however there is some light noise/crackle at cue and between tracks and the odd quiet spot which aren't too many. The record plays Excellent with some light low level noise and clean punchy fidelity, so I'll grade the vinyl as Excellent condition, without playing the record it looks easy M-. The matrix numbers (Machine stamped) - Side A - ZAL-10066.P-1W and Side B - ZAL-10067.P-1W. Includes the original inner sleeve in Excellent condition but it appears someone rounded the corners, else fine. A very nice copy of this rare lp! Please check my listings for other rock and psych lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!
The Polite Force is the second album by British band Egg. It is often regarded as the band’s best work and displays an advance in compositional maturity which moves away from the lingering psychedelic-pop sensibilities of their debut album toward a more avant-garde instrumental approach. The music is a fine example of early English progressive rock, bearing many similarities to Soft Machine. Although the music of Egg does have occasional singing, it is mostly instrumental and as such relies on tight ensemble playing and interesting thematic and melodic material with extended chordal harmonies and irregular time signatures.

MINT: I consider only New Unplayed or Sealed items.
NM or M- or Mint Minus is the same to me, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.
EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.
VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have a few minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.
VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches. If I list a rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
