I will describe the audio quality as honest as possible and as I hear it. In his brief career, Eddie Cochran made a lasting imprint on rock with songs like "Summertime Blues." Born in Oklahoma, he was raised in Minnesota until 1949, when he moved with his family to Bell Gardens, California. By then Eddie Cochran had taught himself to play blues guitar. He and guitarist Hank Cochran (no relation) began recording as the Cochran Brothers in 1955.

The following year Eddie and Hank split up, and Cochran began writing songs with Jerry Capeheart, whom he’d met while buying guitar strings at a local music shop. While the two were recording background music for a low-budget film, the producer, Boris Petroff, enlisted him to sing his song “Twenty Flight Rock” in another movie he was making: The Girl Can’t Help It, with Jayne Mansfield. Liberty Records signed him soon after.

His first hit was 1957’s “Sittin’ in the Balcony” (Number 18). A year later Cochran and Capehart’s good-humored anthem of teen boredom, “Summertime Blues,” made the Top 10. It has since revisited the charts in versions by the Who and Blue Cheer. Two more hits, “C’mon Everybody” (Number 35, 1958) and “Somethin’ Else” (Number 58, 1959), established him as a star, especially in England.

Cochran toured steadily, backed by the Kelly Four (bassist Connie Smith, who was later replaced by Dave Schrieber; drummer Gene Ridgio; and a series of pianists and saxophonists). He was an exceptionally talented guitarist, an energetic stage performer, and an early master of studio overdubbing; he played and sang all the parts on both “C’mon Everybody” and “Summertime Blues.”

Cochran was 21 when he died on April 17, 1960, from injuries he received in an auto accident en route to the London airport the previous evening. His hit single at the time was “Three Steps to Heaven,” which went to Number 1 in the U.K. Injured in the crash were Gene Vincent and Cochran’s fiancée, Sharon Sheeley, co-writer of “Somethin’ Else” and composer of Rick Nelson’s 1958 Number 1 smash “Poor Little Fool.” Cochran and Nelson both entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame posthumously in 1987.

‘My Way’ was a compilation album released posthumously in the UK on the Liberty label in 1964. The album includes some fantastic tracks showing the many sides of Eddie Cochran’s talent, one that stands out for me is ‘Eddies Blues’ which demonstrates that as a guitarist Eddie was right up there with the best of them at the time, also his rendition of the Sleepy John Estes song ‘Milk Cow Blues’  showing his blues roots is superb.

The vinyl

Super thick and chunky type of vinyl only found on earliest pressings! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable.

On initial inspection this looks awesome! I can hardly see a blemish Still retains its original sheen from new! Only in strong light can possibly any (very few) light wispy surface marks\scuffs possibly be seen, mainly sleeve removal only and importantly no audio sounding that i heard! I can't see any audio sounding marks or scratches.

The Audio Quality

 I have played this through track for track prior to listing! at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio is rated at the very top on all frequencies! it is awesome! I heard no clicks or pops at all so common on these early 46 year old pressings and certainly no skips or jumps! This plays superbly on my system! I only heard a minimal amount of static noise which one has to allow for on a 46 year old album that prior to my playing hadn't been played for 40 years!! So it would benefit from a good clean!! Audio Grades at least excellent plus, in my opinion sounds superb after 40 odd years.

The Labels

Labels are superb with no writing or damage! There is some spidering when angled to the light, but the record has not been over played. The labels also feature ''Sold In The UK Subject to Resale Price Conditions..'' text across the labels There is no wear around the spindle hole (The hole is perfectly round)

The Cover

This is the original laminated front Garrod & Lofthouse flipback cover! Super glossy appearance with just very minimal laminate creases only. There is one tiny split about 5mm on the opening edge front only. Amazingly the spine is absolutely square and the writing is perfectly legible! The rear is in clean condition for its age with a minimal amount of fading or staining! At some stage someone has circled the track numbers and only the numbers not the track titles, but to be honest it doesn't really detract really from the quality in my opinion. Due to this I will rate the cover as Excellent rather than Ex Plus.
