This is an auction for one vinyl ED GEINS CAR "Making Dick Dance" LP, 1 USED vinyl record released in 1985, for fans of obscure US punk. Record and sleeve are in excellent condition! Comes with lyric sheet insert.
First heard about these guys in the always handy A-Z Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, on a side note also mentioned in the book was a another band worth checking out: Serial Killers, a philadelphia punk band from the eighties, with titles like "Illegitimate Son of Ed Gein" how could you go wrong?

Ed Gein's Car was a hardcore punk band from 1982 - 1987. They were "the spirited wise asses of New York City's mid-1980s hardcore punk scene". The group's was formed in 1982, when guitarist Tim Carroll and bassist Eric Hedin formed the Deadhead Assassins while attending college in New Paltz, New York; within weeks they were banned from every bar in the area, prompting a move to New York City. There they recruited a series of drummers as well as vocalist Scott Weis, a former bike messenger whose shaved head and wardrobe of boxing trunks, T-shirt and sandals made him the group's sarcastic focal point.
In 1984 Ed Gein's Car issued their debut single, "Brain Dead," returning the following year with the LP Making Dick Dance. They quickly became a popular attraction on the downtown club scene, and were firm favorites at CBGB, where they recorded the 1987 live effort You Light Up My Liver. However, the group took success with the same lack of seriousness as they approached every other facet of their career, and disbanded at the peak of their popularity in 1987; Weis later joined Iron Prostate before turning to painting. - wikipeida page.
The lovable Ed Gein's Car epitomizes the spirit of New York punk. Not hardcore or speed-thrash, just good ol' greasy, gritty punk rock with a working class aesthetic. Despite a pronounced Misfits influence and the use of a gruesome serial killer's name, the band's lyrics shun the horror angle. Instead, the songs on Making Dick Dance focus on things like topical social problems ("Boo Fuckin' Hoo," about the Bernhard Goetz case), Ramonesian goofball humor (the nifty "Go Down on My Dog") and crude songs about women ("A Girl Just Like You"). Good Clash-like harmonies and Scot Weiss' rough, melodic lead vocals help put the tunes over.
Fittingly enough, the second album was recorded live at CBGB. While reprising most of Making Dick Dance, the program also includes a cool version of the Misfits' "Last Caress," two songs from the group's 1985 7-inch debut and a healthy batch of newies, led by the anti-Live Aid anthem "We're Not Your World." - Greg Fasolino (from TrouserPress.com)
