Condizioni : la copertina presenta un certo ring wear, della moderata usura lungo i bordi, lievi raggrinzimenti negli angoli e qualche macchia bruna soprattutto nel retro, osservate, per cortesia le foto 4 e 5; bello stato, VG++ / vinile con pochi e lievi segnetti superficiali che non condizionano minimamente il perfetto ascolto; grande stato, EX+

Condition : cover shows some moderate ring and edge wear, light creasing in the corners and some brown spots especially in the back, please look to the pictures 4 and 5, VG++ / vinyl has a few light scuffs which do not affect play at all, EX+

GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie vengono controllati sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i 33 giri in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1. Per EP e singoli a 45 giri utilizzo un Thorens TD 166 BC con testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All LPs in auction have been fully heard on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge. I listen EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : Funk, Soul e Jazz sono gli ingredienti di questa bella colonna sonora. Nonostante la maggior parte delle tracce sia sotto un incessante bombardamento di sonorità percussive e la sezione fiati sia presente quasi ovunque, non si deve pensare a composizioni di facile presa per l’ascoltatore solo perchè i suoi ritmi sono accattivanti. In realtà vi è una grande eleganza nella costruzione dei vari brani e spesso le soluzioni adottate rivelano buon gusto e personalità.  "Black Girl" (a1), caratterizzata da un sofisticato arrangiamento con sonorità moderate è splendidamente cantata da Betty Everett, "B.J.’s Step" (a2) è uno scatenato brano funk con tastiere, effetti wah, fiati, basso e batteria. "Get Me to the Bridge" (a3) è una canzone molto vivace più con caratteristiche rhythm'n'blues che funky, interpretata da Rodger Collins, raffinato jazz-funk in "Power" (a5) con i particolari assoli di tromba da parte di John Hunt su un tessuto sonoro percussivo. E ci sarebbero ancora altre canzoni e brani strumentali da segnalare ma concludo soltanto con un'ultima citazione: "Chock-lite Puddin’" (b4) con belle improvvisazioni all’organo di Merl Saunders su un ottimo ritmo funky.

Notes : Funk, Soul and Jazz are the ingredients of this beautiful soundtrack. Although most of the tracks is under a relentless storm of percussive sonorities and the brass section is present almost everywhere you must not think of compositions easy to grasp for the listener only because its rhythms are captivating. In fact there is a great elegance in the composition of the various tunes and often the adopted expedients show good taste and personality. "Black Girl" (a1), characterized by sophisticated arrangements with moderate sonorities, is beautifully sung by Betty Everett, "BJ's Step" (a2) is a wild funk track with keyboards, wah effects, brass, bass and drums. "Get Me to the Bridge" (a3) is a very lively song with more rhythm and blues than funky features, performed by Rodger Collins, sophisticated jazz-funk in "Power" (a5) with special trumpet solos by John Hunt on a percussive sound texture. And there would be other songs and instrumentals to mention, but I just conclude with one last tip: "Chock-lite Puddin'" (b4) with beautiful organ improvisations by Merl Saunders on a great funky rhythm.
