ECHO: The Magazine You Play On Your Turntable
Vol. 1, No. 4 - 1960
- Sold With No Reserves! - As I continue on my trek towards old fartdom, I'll be listing a lot of my way cool LPs, CDs and music-related memorabilia on eBay in the coming months, so be sure to check back every once in a while, won't you? These are from my well-cared-for collection - you won't be disappointed.
This is a scarce art & music magazine from 1960, a spiral bound book on thick paper stock, with art & five flexi-disc sound recordings within the bindings. Imagine that – a magazine that’s designed not only to be read, but played on your turntable as well! This issue features 2 improvisations by Bob & Ray, field recordings of "The City Dog" by Tony Schwartz (w/ illustrations by James Thurber), Salvador Dali demonstrating his "Dalinguistics", instructions on how to dance the Madison (with music), and the winners of the 1960 National Collegiate Jazz Festival. The flexi-discs play at 33rpm. Tough to find any of these, and this definitely is the most interesting and desirable of the issues.
Overall measurements are 7-3/8” by 7-1/2”. Overall real nice condition. All of the thin plastic red binding rings are present. No writing, creases or tears. A tiny spot missing in lower left corner of back cover (and two other pages). Faint foxing (browning) in spots. The flexi-discs are all present and in outstanding condition. My guess is that they’ve rarely, if ever, been played.
