EAST VILLAGE OTHER Electric Newspaper (ESP-Disk`1034) Velvet Underground Noise MINT-
Very RARE, original US pressing of The East Village Other`s "Electric Newspaper", released on ESP-Disk`(1966).
Includes "Gossip", a spoken-word piece by Warhol protégé Gerard Malanga, the usual Hare Krishna chanting by the likes of Allen Ginsberg (with fellow poet Peter Orlovsky accompanying) - and about a minute of very early Velvet Underground screeching, appropriately titled "Noise".
Apparently the very first snatch of VU audio to make it onto vinyl, The East Village Other`s "Electric Newspaper" in its original form, such as found here, is highly sought after by Velvet Underground aficionados. Well then, here`s your chance to own a piece of music history!
GRADING:
EX+ COVER with some general wear. Please see photos for details.
- Heavy-duty cardboard sleeve, as found only on original US first-press copies.
- Slight corner bend (at top left) with adjacent superficial tear.
- A bit of yellowing to the cover spine.
- Light general scuffing of the cover surface, especially on the rear.
- All-around tight edges, completely undamaged and unscuffed.
- Cover has a small punch-hole at top, center. The previous owner literally strung some of his favourite records up in his student pad; "Electric Newspaper" was obviously one of them.
MINT- RECORD in extremely good condition for its age!
- A few lightest hairlines from sleeve removal only.
- A small, superficial scratchlet (about 5mm long, in the middle of side one) is completely inaudible.
- Absolutely immaculate ESP-Disk` labels with no spindle wear whatsoever!
- Very sporadic, light background crackle in quiet passages.
- Includes the extremely thin, original rice paper inner sleeve used by ESP-Disk`. It`s in EX+ condition, with a seam split to one side only.
- This is guaranteed to be an original first (and only!) US pressing of "Electric Newspaper", released in late 1966.
This record comes from an extensive, single-owner collection of progressive and folk-rock records we recently acquired. These records were all bought at the time of initial release (1960-1970). Most are original UK or US first pressings. Due to the size of the collection, most of the records were played a few times only: They will be found to be in the appropriate condition.

eBay`s maximum mailing cost for the US is predetermined at $4. Obviously, the pricing system does not foresee foreign sellers listing in the US. However, we cannot possibly ship a record to the US from Europe for this price. Please bid only if you agree with the mailing costs as outlined above.
