EARTH FREE - "Earth Free" aka "Conjerti, Morreale & Dibley"
ORIGINAL vintage 1972 LP record Sundance Records MC-5729B
LIKE NEW condition ............ Note: No Reserve on this one! Good luck... 1972 LP by acoustic/electric trio with three man backing band. Sam Conjerti, Marty Morreale and Dave Dibley on acoustic guitars and vocals (& occasionally other instruments); plus bass, drums and lead guitar. From Lockport, NY.... which is where I picked this up.
Lonely lost moody folk and folk/rock private pressing. Have seen it labelled "dreamy folk/psych". I'm more of a garage and "1967 sound" psych collector, so it's not my cup of tea, exactly. Still, I'm keeping one in my collection... It's a good LP, and there's a huge buzz going on right now concerning it. But I'll let the hype on it - that you've probably already heard - speak for itself.
Overall, well-written songs with good lyrics. There's a vibe of existential loneliness and melancholy running throughout. I think someone labelled this Christian, there's nothing you can specifically pin down as Xian except a few phrases and titles suggesting it... but in the credits is listed this thank-you: "Life- Jesus Christ." The overall vibe, though, the spiritual despair suggests that, if they'd gone on, they might have become full-fledged Christian.

Besides my own keeper copy, this is the last one of these I have. This copy is also Near Mint/Near Mint (actually, it's perfect and could be considered Mint throughout). I noticed another recent Seller describing his sealed copy as having a slight storage warp (noting that "all copies do"). THIS one isn't sealed, but at least that allows me to verify that it's NOT warped. NO WARPING; straight as an arrow. Vinyl is perfect, likely either unplayed or played once. The few copies I've had all came from the band's hometown and most likely were either given to, or left behind with, people who didn't particularly care to play it. This came from the same stash as the sealed one I just sold, and it's the last one I have ... end of the line baby!
The cover is perfect. There's no cutouts, drillholes, stains, tears, fading, writing, stickers, moisture damage or mildew. No worn seams or spine cracking, no ringwear. No bent corners, no dogears, no dings. PERFECT CORNERS, SEAMS AND SPINE.
Shrinkwrap is perfect too, no tears, no pieces missing.
(NOTE: PHOTO IS OF THE LAST ONE I SOLD, A SEALED COPY. THIS ONE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE IT BUT, OF COURSE, IS OPENED. ALL THIS HOLIDAY SNACKING HAS LEFT ME TOO WEAK AND LAZY TO REPLACE IT...... sorry.......)
