Mr. Metcalf passed in 1981, here is his obit from the NY Times:
Louis Metcalf, a jazz trumpet player who was a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra that opened the Cotton Club in Harlem in 1927, died Tuesday at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica, Queens. He was 76 years old and lived in Queens.
One of the first jazz musicians Mr. Metcalf worked with was the pianist Willie (The Lion) Smith. He also played with bands led by King Oliver, Fletcher Henderson, Luis Russell and Sam Wooding. In the late 1930's, he began leading his own jazz groups.
During the 1950's and 60's, Mr. Metcalf's group was a regular attraction at the Metropole, a nightclub near Times Square that featured jazz. He continued to appear with his combo throughout the New York metropolitan area until last summer.
Mr. Metcalf is survived by his wife, Shirley; four sons and a daughter.

Jazz Box5
we sell UNUSED old store stock 90% of the time, and there is sometimes handling or shelf wear and/or minor flaws that do not detract from the piece -- we therefore always call the music "Used" or "Acceptable" so that people do not expect that the piece is in flawless condition, although nine times out of ten it is. Sometimes, the wrinkling or minor damage can occur during our handling from place to place or what have you, but again, we strive to keep it real and keep the prices reflective of any possible cosmetic imperfections.
