"AMERICA AMORE AMARO" Remigio Ducros / Luciano Simoncini
ORIGINAL 1977 EDIPAN LABEL STEREO PRESSING, CATALOG#. MPS 3015, ITALY.
One of the most elusive Italian Library records on the "Edi-Pan" label. An inspired musical interpretation of mid '70s young America with spacey Funk/Breaks and strung-out Italian sounds of the period. Woah!
What we have here is another Remigio Ducros and Luciano Simoncini (Arawak, Jason Black, etc) sure shot! Fantastic record for those who are into the classic Simoncini/Ducros sound. Very reminiscent of the "Accadde A.." and Jason Black recordings. What you can expect are tightly knitted and compressed drums, stoned flute sections, shouting horns, Fender Rhodes Piano, heavy basslines and that signature spacey Wah Wah guitar that's on all of the earlier Simoncini recordings. As with many of the Ducros and Simoncini recordings, it seems to be a geographical tour of America, and shows their take on our culture at the time. Variations on the Sgambetto - Sgambata theme / stoned "Accadde A.." flute / Hip-Hop beats / 'popping' percussion / Fender bass / rhodes e-piano etc. Daniela Casa is probably the girl playing all the Wah Wah and cosmic Fuzz distortions. This is really GREAT for DJs!
There are no boring tracks on this F A N T A S T I C LP, a pure delight from beginning to the end! Starts with KILLER Fender Funk Rhodes "BUS STOP" with great heavy bass. Follow on the same side "MAWIL", romantic Lounge and "MAGNOLIA BOULEVARD", breaking Hip-Hop Funky track, spacey! Also remarkable the deep Funk "SUBWAYS", dark flute tunes "FLUTING" and clipped Funky guitar on "CONEY ISLAND". Side B starts with lovely Cinematic Score "CIGAR'S FACTORY" where is probably the Alessandroni's famous whistle followed by fantastic fluting Jazz-Funk "FRISCO". "NIAGARA FALLS" Funky flutes and then "NIGROS" where almost for sure is Daniela Casa's MENTAL Fuzz/Experimental distortions. Closing 2 tracks are Jazzy Lounge Funky. OUSTANDING album!
