all sounding fantastic

~ condition ~

record is in Very Good + Condition* and has
been fully play tested and it sounds great without
any skips, repeats or bad noise & has just light
mellow crackle & an occasional soft pop (although
there is one quick quiet jump* on side 2 during the
track "Sophisticated Lady") & has shiny clean vinyl
that has just some light wear and the labels
are bright & clean with no writing

cover is in Very Good Condition with bold bright
printing & has intact seams & no writing or markings
but there is evidence of it being taped along the top
edge at one point where there is a little bit of tape
residue (and some spots on the back where the paper
has been peeled away) & the seams are intact but
the top & bottom do have neat archival repairs that
were done from the inside and are only seen upon
close inspection & there is also some corner
and edge wear, but overall this looks nice

displays & plays well

~ matrix #'s ~

side one : MGV 8329-A
side two : MGV 8329-B

the above is 'scrawled' into the dead wax

~ review ~

this gem features some of Billie Holiday's top
Verve performances from the mid-'50s running
the emotional gamut from summery optimism
("Love Is Here to Stay") to pathos-rich musings
("Ill Wind") and Befitting her perennial after-hours
mood while at the label, the majority of songs
here feature Holiday in a low-down mood of the
highest order & are classics of the jazz vocal tradition
And the supporting cast isn't bad either with
the likes of Harry Edison, Barney Kessel
Ben Webster and Jimmy Rowles
