Downliners Sect: Glendora
Columbia DB 7939, 1966.
We’re having a bit of a clearout of stuff at home so I’ve put my usual eBay sales of art and ephemera mostly to one side for a few weeks. I’ve got a large personal collection of vinyl, lots of which I don’t play any more, so one of the things I will be selling is records. I guess, since you are viewing this listing, it is probable that you don’t need any introduction to this recording, which has become a cult classic over the years - and not just among its natural audience of garage band / freakbeat collectors. The single was not a big seller on its initial release so good, original examples are hard to find these days.
This particular copy is in very nice condition. It does have a fair number of fine lines on the playing surface but there is nothing that interferes with the sound quality. The record plays extremely well on both sides with no intrusive pops or clicks. The labels on both sides are in good condition too. I didn’t buy this single new in 1966 but I’ve certainly owned this copy since the 1970s and I do look after my records.
