Dorothy Beery – ‘Don’t Give Me Love’ / ‘Soul Power’ – Big 3 (US)

Not to be confused with West Coast artist Dorothy Berry, the wife of Richard Berry (of ‘Louie Louie’ fame), who cut some gorgeous records for David Gates’ Planetary label, as well as for Little Star, Challenge and Tangerine (she was a Raelette as well), this is a Chicago artist, whose only other record would appear to be ‘A Woman Needs A Good Man (Yes She Does)’ released as by Dorothy Berrie & The African Bag All-Stars on U.S.A. Big Three, like Vick, Hawk and Toi, was one of Bob Lee’s labels, operating out of Chicago’s South Side in the late 1960s.

Condition: VG+ or perhaps a notch better. It’s not a record that’s been played much, but it’s pretty sturdy vinyl (please listen to the clips). Clean labels (please see scans).
