Description
Up for Auction is an extremely rare, excellent copy of the 10 inch single, first Aussie pressing of "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" by United States actress in stage and musicals, and Pop singer, Doris Day, circa 1954, on the Philips label in VERY GOOD to VERY GOOD+ condition overall. The record is a 78 rpm, Shellac 10 inch.
The record is graded VERY GOOD The Sleeve is graded VERY GOOD PLUS The Labels are graded NEAR MINT The audio on both sides is graded VERY GOOD
The record has a noticeable scratch/graze across the first track on side one that makes a bit of a crackle as it goes over it. The record also has fine, light surface hairlines here and there that do not affect the quality of play.
The record labels on both sides are crisp. bright, clean and undamaged in NEAR MINT condition with no sign of spindle wear or damage.
The album jacket has a little bit of fading on the front along the edge of the spine. Slight ring wear on the reverse and some light minor staining of the glue along the seams.
There is a record store rubber stamp in ink on the reverse, "Twysons", for me this just adds to the history of the record. A minor, light corner fold with crease, back, top, left. Other than that this album is in fine shape. (Please see photos).
It is extremely rare to find a shellac record this old by a major star like Doris Day in this fantastic a condition, after all the record is 62 years old.
This record has sold on Ebay recently for $100 Aus. but not the Australian version, they are very hard to find, and they are becoming more and more sought after and more valuable by the year.
