Description
Scottish singer/songwriter Donovan Leitch, an icon of Swinging London, made numerous albums in the 60s. He easily incorporated rock and psychedelic elements into his mostly folk-based music...and achieved tremendous success. From 1965 to 1969 he released 14 albums, making him something of a one-man British Invasion. In fact, he wrote and recorded so much quality material during those years that he simply burnt out; because most of his releases during the 70s and 80s were eminently forgettable. That said, I consider his album 'Cosmic Wheels' from 1973, to be his last "great" record. Everything, from the production to the stellar cast of well known session musicians to the catchy, melodic songs themselves, make this one of Donovan's most underrated albums. This 1st Japanese pressing on Epic Records (ECPM-15) from 1973 is the best sounding version of this album I've heard so far. The audio is just amazing ...clear, distortion-free and exceptional detail in the acoustic guitars and voices. Also included is the extremely rare lyric/fold-out poster, custom printed inner-sleeve, and Japanese insert. Extremely hard to find as a first Japanese pressing in this kind of condition.
Condition of Gatefold Jacket: NM(-) .....just some very minor wear to the edges/corners and a small area to the bottom of the inner gatefold. The gatefold jacket is made of a very heavy duty card stock and has a beautiful charcoal matted texture.
Condition of Custom Inner-Sleeve, Japanese insert, and giant fold-out lyric poster: NM...showing only the faintest wear with some age discoloration.
Condition of Record: Near Mint....beautiful gloss to both sides...Superb Audio from start to finish
