Description
Hot Jazz is an album of 78 rpm records by the Quintet of the Hot Club of France. Quintet members include Django Reinhardt on lead guitar, Stephane Grappelly on violin, with Pierre Ferret and Marcel Bianchi on rhythm guitars and Louis Vola on bass.
This is a partial set that contains only 3 of the 4 records originally issued -- the record with sides 7 and 8 is missing. This is Vol. VI in the Victor Hot Jazz Series.
This album is from the library of the U.S.S. Feland, an attack transport vessel that served in the Pacific theater during WWII and received 5 battle stars.
I can grade these 78s by visual inspection only. Sides 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 look to be in VG+ condition with no scratches or other scuffs. Side 5 seems to have two small pits that may cause the needle to stick.
The labels of Sides 1, 4 and 6 each have tears on the label caused by removing a sticker (see photos).
The album jacket is in VG+ condition. The front cover is a bit scuffed but unmarked. The interior of the album is very neat and clean, with the only markings being the stamp of the U.S.S, Feland library on each record folder.
