Description

I'm selling my personal collection of rare 60s and 70s modern British jazz over the next few weeks. This really was a golden age for British jazz and these are LPs I bought in the 70s and have had ever since. This auction is for Directions in Jazz but please see below for the others and check out my other items for concurrent auctions.

Directions In Jazz by The Directions In Jazz Unit directed by Bill Le Sage
Philips BL7625
1964 album by talented pianist and vibes player Bill le Sage merging jazz and strings extremely well. Highly respected musicians such as Ronnie Ross, Johnny Scott and Bob Burns play lovely solos. Has the feeling of a precursor to Laurie Johnson's Synthesis and even Neil Ardley's Greek Variations. Highly enjoyable. If you want to get a flavour of some of this LP there's a couple of videos on youtube including this one
