Description

Dire Straits in the form of a double album titled "ALCHEMY" - a superb compilation of their greatest songs that include several live versions of their hit singles.(please see photo's for track listings).

The album is issued on the Vertigo recording label, the catalogue number is VERY 11. and was released in 1984.Very collectable album from the mid 1980's.

About the album:

The Outer  Sleeve:

Remains in a good state of preservation. The front cover is clean as is the rear. The gatefold sleeve opens up to present live pictures and illustrations of the band in concert, again the condition is good - there are small stains to the upper left and right hand corners of the inner cover - nothing untoward, I have tried to capture these on the photos for you to see. There are one or two buffing marks on the outer edges, corners and to the spine - again nothing at all serious and consistent really with age and storage. In all though very for for purpose.

The Inner Sleeves:

Are factory issued white sleeved inserts and are in good condition.

The Vinyl:

Presents on all four sides with a good excellent glossy sheene. Please see photo's.

Side One:

A close visual examination under bright lighting conditions reveals one or two visible light/minor surface marks/scratches that are not of any particular concern to me , I have therefore played this side and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is of good quality and faithful. As with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust, some being louder than others, this is particular noticeable on quitter sections of the album(there are some on this side) such as on play-off's, intros and in between tracks that said it does not in my view spoil the listening quality of the vinyl. Again and on my equipment at no time have I detected any skipping, sticking or jumping

Side Two:

Again,a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of side two again reveals one or two very light/minor surface marks/scratches, visible but not of any particular concern to me  , I have therefore played  side two and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is again of good quality and faithful. As with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust, some being louder than others, this is particular noticeable on quitter sections of the album(there are some on this side as well) such as on play-off's, intros and in between tracks that said it does not in my view spoil the listening quality of the vinyl. Again and on my equipment at no time have I detected any skipping, sticking or jumping on side two.

Of note;

On side one/two, there is a very small chip on the extreme outer edge of the vinyl as long as the needle is not placed towards the very edge then playing quality is unaffected.

Side Three:

Again,a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of side three  reveals several  surface marks/scratches light in nature - one or two being lengthy but of hairline character and again are not of any particular concern to me  , I have therefore played side three and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is also of good quality and faithful. Again, as with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust, some being louder than others, this is particular noticeable on quitter sections of the album(there are some on this side as well) such as on play-off's, intros and in between tracks that said it does not in my view spoil the listening quality of the vinyl notwithstanding the marks I have described. Again and on my equipment at no time have I detected any skipping, sticking or jumping on side three.

Side Four:

Again,a close visual examination under bright lighting conditions of side four reveals a series of  surface marks/scratches light in nature - one or two being lengthy but of hairline character surface marks/scratches , I have therefore played side four and on my audio equipment the sound reproduction is of good quality and faithful. As with any vinyl - even new one can detect the occasional crack consistent with hard to detect surface marks or dust, some being louder than others, this is particular noticeable on quitter sections of the album (again there are some on this side) such as on play-off's, intros and in between tracks that said it does not in my view spoil the listening quality of the vinyl notwithstanding the marks I have described Again and on my equipment at no time have I detected any skipping, sticking or jumping on side four.

I have tried to illustrate the presentation of the vinyl on the photos, please have a look.

The labels on all four sides are in clean order.
