In the late ' 50s and early ' 60s, Dion DiMucci established himself as King of Doo-Wop. His sound illustrated the indigenous music of the 3ronx streets, where he grew up. Dion made himself both as a solo artist and as leader of the vocal group the Belmonts (as well as head of the unannounced Band the del satins) a name. His unique voice and his very personal style can be heard to great effect and play a surprising number of genres - mostly Doo-Wop, rock and roll and R & B. In addition, he delivered persuasively empathetic way teen pop themes of romanticism, unrequited love and loneliness.

One of the earliest inspirations of the young Dion was Vito Picone of the Elegants, the "where are you, Little Star" sang with a voice so sweet that he evoked heart pain. This would impress Dion sustainably and in shaping his own musical voice. As the rock critic Dave Marsh once said about you: "Did you hear it in the child with the sweet voice, that had the courage to admit that he was sometimes just a loving teenager or just a lonely teenager." Dion was not so dramatic or sexually suggestive like Elvis, but he was not as comfortable as the all-American teen idols Frankie Avalon and the ' 3 bobbies' (V., Vinton and Rydell). As the journalist Greg Shaw wrote: "Dion was the original punk...". He was tough, arrogant, not really dangerous as Edwards, but certainly common.

Similar to Frankie Valli and the four seasons, the blue collar New Jersey embody embodied Dion DiMucci in New York in the days before the Beatles. Bruce Springsteen argued that Dion was the only artist who with equal ease in this Council could fit Pack and the 'E Street Band', while the songwriter Jerry Leiber explained that he is the best white blues singer he ever heard. Dion's discography is incredibly diverse. In the course of his extensive career he has grown from pop, rock & roll and doo doo-wop styles of 50s blues, 60's pop, folk, and from there to the singer-songwriter movement, Christian music, and then back to pop and blues developed. In a review of the Los Angeles Times wrote Kathy Orloff about Dion: "his style is instantly recognisable and unique, his voice is strong and rich and deep clean. The sound is full, sensitive, tangible. His songs show that he is open, vulnerable and yet somehow stable. With a career that spans more than half a century, the inimitable Dion is always still musically active at this writing.

The essential album contains Dion's classic and great second album of solo, Runaround Sue, 1961, after he had separated from TNE Beirnonts, originally released on the label Laurie. The long play begins with the title track, which rose to no. 1 of the U.S. pop charts. The song was co-written by Dion and EMIE Maresca and tells the story of a disloyal lover. The text is sung from the perspective of a man, whose former freundin Sue was extremely unfaithful. He called on all potential lovers to Dodge her at any price, because Sue with every guy she meets "running around" and never lets down with a certain man. He advises: "Now let people of mine wisely say Sue goes out with another guy" and proposes that potential candidates should keep away from Runaround Sue. Dion explained in his autobiography the Wanderer (1988) that, while the name of his wife Susan, "Runaround Sue" have anything to do with her. During an interview with his wife on the Oprah Winfrey Show 1990 she presented but the story that the song was actually about her. The melody begins with a melodramatic introduction, in which Dion tells us the story itself not so much, but anticipates, he will tell us a story, accompanied by Doo musical voices in the background. And then we go to the races, while the Group sings a circular hooks ("hey hey hey, womb-deh-de-hey-de-hey-de Hamza") by doo doo-wop harmonies in the background, while Dion wordless cries. Combined with the constantly person fingers that hold the rhythm, this passage represents the Straßenhaftigkeit of the early 60s.

"" The album presents two more and well-known smashes: the Wanderer "and the majestic", as well as more highlights from simple Hard Rock & Roll ('Kansas City') ranging to gentle teen-pop. Lonely World' was not much noise in the charts, although it had a great beat, a killer hook and a beautiful song by Dion and his background singers.

In addition to the original masterpiece this collector contains Edition 3 bonus tracks that were recorded during this period, but not on the LP include:'could somebody take my place tonight ', the smash hit' come go with me' and a great cover of Lloyd price's ' Stagger Lee'.
