DESCRIPTION
This is a really highly-sought record in the Reggae genre although I believe it is Rocksteady or Ska more than actual Reggae. The A-side is usually the lesser reason for interest due to the simply mesmeric B-side by Dice The Boss, which in some places defies logic as it skits in and out of a verse/chorus where you don't know which one is one and which one is the other.
This copy is in way better condition than many others I have seen on eBay. This has an almost perfect outer edge with a tiny 0.5mm blip that you can only feel if you go looking for it, it has a near-perfect centre with no handwriting on it (as you tend to see in a lot of other examples) and it plays loud and strong with a dense, thick press and with very little crackle at all. A couple of needle marks on it but take into account this record is 52 years old; it's in better condition than I am at a similar age.
The reason this is starting at £250.00 is simply because I've seen it sell for upwards of £300 and I paid about £200 for mine originally - the question may arise as to why the price has increased. Well, the reason behind this is that I have used it in ritual drinking sessions before MCFC games where we drink to City's success by invoking the spirit of the late Gerry Gow. We won the Premier League and other honours too, so you're in effect also buying a piece of English football folklore.
Furthermore and finally: dear bidder(s), I don't know what you tend to spend on records but this was and remains the most expensive record I've ever bought but also the cheapest. What? Why? I've bought albums for £10/£15/£20, played them a little or a lot and they then sit on a shelf with other albums. On the other hand, if I had this on a pub jukebox and I played it for 50p a go as many times as I have as its owner/custodian at home, it would have paid for itself. Can't say fairer than that.
CONDITION
A strict note on condition of records and 'grading' - I do not indulge in really intensive grading as you see elsewhere. Almost all records I sell are in Section TWO of the list below. Sections 1 and 3 aren't my thing!
I see it this way - you're assumed to be buying a record that is already used and it looks, feels and plays as used. It is playable. I'm not messing about with ultra-fine detail. You're buying an old record, it's old, expect it to look old; if you want a brand-new-looking record, you need a reissue if one exists. That will be brand-new-looking and usually cheaper than the original. You're buying it to play. White-glove-toting onanists: stay away!
CONDITION - THREE-STAGE LIST:
(1) MINT: If it's MINT, I'd say it was. I only think MINT should apply to records still in cellophane wrap from the factory. Most of mine are used - I'll virtually never have a MINT record to sell.
(2) PLAYABLE: It plays nicely and music comes out of it. This is what this is. It is played, to some degree, it isn't knackered (so that basically it sounds so rubbish you can't hear the song). You can hear the song. It plays. Thus it's playable. Sorted!
(3) KNACKERED: If this was knackered, I wouldn't be selling it - because it'd be knackered.

I smoke 40 Woodbine a day and own a herd of Llama that become highly aggressive at the sight of anything I sell on eBay.
SHIPPING has to reflect the true cost of the entire operation, not just the postage cost itself. The culture on eBay seems to be one where people are happy to pay £6.00 or whatever to concert ticket agents for two pieces of paper to be mailed to them. Well - I'm not a huge conglomerate, I'm a person in a front room so please don't kick off if there is a difference between cost price of postage and the charge for P+P. If I sell a record for £2.50 and charge £1.50 on postage but the stamp is £1.00, the 50p difference is more than taken off me in other ways - from eBay/PayPal fees, and my time, petrol, packaging materials that all cost money - it's ALL part of it. I come out with mere shrapnel and even then it's by pure chance - I calculate the cost of the P+P in genuine good faith.
Any return is at the buyer's expense but a full refund will be given if not satisfied. I'll just grumble a lot under my breath if anyone returns it having clearly not read or understood a word of what I've written above. BOM DIA! x
