Description

Check this out! A 1977 Dennis Wilson "Pacific Ocean Blue" gatefold LP with lyric sleeve in excellent condition--only one owner in 30 years (and that's me)! It would make a great Christmas gift for that collector on your list--or as a special gift to yourself!

Original and authentic LP--not a reproduction--and the ONLY album Wilson recorded without the Beach Boys. Rare. Caribou Records (released by CBS Records). Catalog #PZ 34354.

Yes, I bought this album myself back in the late 1970s and can vouch that it has only been played twice--once when I bought it and then again the other night while listening to it to be sure it doesn't skip, which it doesn't. (I know, I know, my taste in music is miserably lacking, because music enthusiasts love it. But look at the bright side--MY BAD TASTE IS YOUR GAIN!

Condition

The vinyl on this record is in excellent to near mint condition. NO SKIPS! And no visible scratches on the vinyl or record label, either side. (I've seen this record go for over $30 on eBay this year WITH scratches, so this one's a beauty!)

The LP cover is in very good to excellent condition, inside and out, given its age. As I said, it's only had one owner--so it hasn't been man-handled at a record store since it came out of the plastic wrap 30 years ago! The only flaws: some minor corner wear; on the outside back cover, there are two scratches just below the spine and a tiny white spot below HIS right elbow (look below the elbow in the left of the photo); and on the front cover, there is less than a one-inch strip on the left and right of Wilson that's a little darker than the rest of the cover. (Look for the two streaks just below and to the right of his Adam's apple.) You will also see some normal wear on the back along the spine. The inside looks near mint when opened.

The inside lyric sleeve has some pale yellow age spots, but they're minor and to be expected. The only flaw is a place where the record broke through the sleeve (making about a 3-4 inch slit, which I tried to photograph when I placed the lyric sheet over the inside photo spread of the album cover, showing how far the record sticks through--look at where the record peeks out on the left, not the bigger one near the profile photo of Dennis, because that's the opening of the sleeve). To avoid further tearing of the sleeve, I have put the album into the sleeve from another album (don't tell Jay and the Americans). I'm just afraid it will tear more in transit if the record shifts even a bit.
