Description

I'm beginning to think this record is cursed! I've listed it twice previously and both times I was informed by eBay after the auction ended that the high bidder from the UK is not a registered user and has been removed from eBay!  Let's try one more time on this one...maybe the 3rd time will be a charm!  Due to previous fraud from UK bidders I will not accept bids from or ship to the UK on this one!

Hello vinyl junkies, I’m knee deep (elbow deep?) in grease and rusty or missing parts while restoring a classic car (and have another waiting in the wings if I EVER finish the current one) so I'll be slowly selling off the bulk of my record collection to finance these projects… therefore I'll be continuing to list hundreds of LPs over the next few months, so please keep checking back

Anyway, let's continue with this one by Dennis Sindrey The Pill released by Federal/Kalypso Records in 1968 (208 Stereo)  Original yellow label with black print.

Dennis began his career playing guitar in the popular Kingston band "The Caribs" between 1958 and 1968. During his early performing days he was often billed as "The Calypsonaire with the Blonde Hair."  The Pill was his second solo album for Federal/Kalypso. Recently Dennis has been performing with a reunited Caribs and The Melbourne Ska Orchestra. The model featured on the front and back cover was none other than "Madam Wasp" (Elizabeth Cespedes-Brady) who was married to Carl Brady of Byron Lee's Dragonaires.

From the liner notes:

This is the age of the Pill! Behold the Pill! How true! The now trend, so vividly and humorosly rendered in a song so true to life, yet so well done by Dennis, you will be thinking about it long after it has gone. But in this album of the greatest Carnival Hits is another song you'll play over and over again, the one and only "Fire In Me Wire." This sort of post mortem could go on and on, so we suggest you put this record on your turntable, relax and enjoy hit after hit by the Guy who sings Calypso with the zing in his wing - Dennis Sindrey.

This LP contains the following tracks:

  1. Fire Fire
  2. 68 Will Be Great
  3. The Pill
  4. Mr. Walker
  5. Yellow Bird
  6. Miss Tourist
  7. Honeymoon Couple
  8. Take You Meat Out Me Rice
  9. Trip To Mars
  10. Jamaica Farewell

Both LP and cover are both in very good condition. LP has a few light scuffs that are visible under a bright spotlight but do not effect play.  The cover still wears its original shrink wrap and has no seam splits, cut out marks, writing, rips, tears or other flaws.   A quick word on sound quality on this one. The Federal/Kalypso label was not known for their fantastic sound or pressing quality. They used a lower grade of vinyl on their albums, so there will be minor surface noise when listening to this album. Unfortunately, this was the case with every release on this label so please keep that in mind when listening to the album. These flaws should not detract from the overall enjoyment of these cool recordings...but the listener will be disappointed if they expect CD quality sound from any vinyl LP by Federal/Kalypso.

I grade on a stricter scale than Goldmine! (or at least the watered down version that seems to exist here on eBay). I'll take the time to describe any flaws rather that give a letter grade that means something different to seemingly every record seller and buyer... I've received too many LPs graded by sellers VG++ or NM that were pretty beat up, and I'm willing to bet it's happened to your too.

Sorry if the cover looks washed out in the photo below…this is caused by a reflection from the camera flash… the colors are brighter and bolder in person.

If this LP caught your eye, please check my other auctions over the next few months for several other albums including space age pop, lounge, bachelor pad, exotica and weird & strange recordings and more. I will combine shipping on multiple purchases.

Please feel free to e-mail with any questions.

The Fine Print:

Payment is due within seven days after end of auction. - Due to a recent change in eBay policy I can no longer accept any form of "mailed" payment - Paypal is the only payment method accepted - thanks for your understanding.

Due to overwhelming requests, I generally ship domestic packages by Media Mail. However, please keep in mind that while media mail is the cheapest shipping method it is also the slowest. Media mail can take up to one month or MORE to arrive. Media Mail shipping within the United States is $3.50 including mandatory Delivery Conformation.

I do combine shipping for multiple purchases. The $3.50 covers between one and two albums. Additional albums (three and up) are an additional 25 cents each. (Please wait for an invoice from me, as the Paypal system does not calculate the combines shipping)

If you need your purchase quicker than Media Mail will provide, please e-mail me and I'll let you know the Priority Mail shipping cost. Depending on your location Priority rates range between $4.95 to $8.75 for one LP.

I do not charge any "shipping" or "handling" fees... you pay what the post office charges me.  I usually ship within 48 hours of receiving Payment.

Overseas shipping is by Air Mail Only (surface mail is not available!) Shipping for one LP to Canada is $7.00, Mexico is $11.00. Anywhere else in the world is $14.00. Overseas shipping is by regular air mail and can take anywhere from one and four weeks to arrive.  I do combine shipping for overseas purchases also - I will send an invoice with the shipping amount if purchasing more than one LP.

I am sorry but I do not accept bids from (or ship records to) bidders from Italy or the "Russian Federation."

All records are mailed in cardboard record mailers with cardboard inserts to prevent damage. LP will be removed from cover for shipping to prevent seam splits while in transit.

I do offer a money back guarantee if you are not pleased with your purchase. I don’t do this for a living, it is supposed to be a fun hobby, so if there is a problem at any point during the transaction, please let me know so we can work out a solution!

Thanks for looking and good luck!
