Description
1st UK pressing of Deep Purple In Rock.
Genuine very first issue bought on the day of release, June 1970.
Has all identifiers listed below:
- The upper rim text begins with 'THE GRAMOPHONE CO LTD.'
- No 'EMI' logo on labels (until about June 1971);
- The inscription 'MADE IN GT. BRITAIN' on labels is separated of the lower rim text and centered above the circular bottom line
- Song listing in 3-lines for side A and in 4 lines for side B
- The Ⓟ icon (under the 'Side A/B' indicator on labels) is about a third smaller than the year '1970' to the right of it
- Inscriptions (on the right side of the label) 'STEREO', 'SHVL 777' and '(SHVL.777A or B) 33 1/3' are located one above the other and have an equal gap between them.
- Only one bold line around the EMI/Harvest logo on the front sleeve.

Side 2 - SHVL 777 B-1 / 1 / OP
Vinyl has quite a few fine hairlines and paper scuffs under strong light. Visually grades VG+. Fully tested it plays with nice clear audio. A few light background crackles in spaces between tracks but minimal and low level and cannot be heard over the music. EX- to EX play grade.
Sleeve is EX+ overall. A little laminate lift on the spine but otherwise crisp and clean. Very nice condition
Harvest advertising inner is VG+ due to small name and address on one corner in biro.
Very decent overall original first UK pressing!
