A VERY RARE PICTURE SLEEVE THAT IS VALUED AT $600 IN "GOLDMINE'S PRICE GUIDE TO 45 RPM RECORDS, 7th EDITION" The ONLY ONE on eBay!
"HUSH / ONE MORE RAINY DAY" by DEEP PURPLE on Tetragrammaton Records (T-1503) from 1968. Even though Elvis Presley and The Beatles are about tied for being the most popular amongst collectors of vinyl records, very few of their Picture Sleeves are as rare as this one by DEEP PURPLE! This Picture Sleeve is not Near Mint, but is a decent VG example with no splits or writing. Yes, there is some heavy ring impression from the record being inside, along with some light surface wear. There is also some heavy wrinkling to the top, along with a couple very tiny tears in that area from repeated removal of the record. There is some price sticker residue to the upper right. This along with the normal wrinkling about the corners like most picture sleeves have, are the only detractions. This Picture Sleeve was produced on very glossy stock and was definitely "Printed In U.S.A." as stated on the bottom of the sleeve. This was DEEP PURPLE's debut single and there is an introductory printed on the back side of all the band members and what their role is within the band. One line reads "The Group's first L.P. "SHADES OF DEEP PURPLE" will soon appear and from it are taken these two tracks". The record itself is NM- only due to an area on the "HUSH" side where scotch tape was applied to keep one of those small catalog numbers on the label for filing. This 45 RPM and the Picture Sleeve were purchased new in 1968 by my brother who is 10 years older than I. He eventually gave me his collection of 45's in a 1960's era carrying case in 1977 that included this record. The record still plays as new. As mentioned, this Picture Sleeve is not Near Mint, but it is downright RARE and it is currently the ONLY example on eBay! Please see the photos.
