Description
A 1st pressing of Fireball on the UK Harvest label. Matrix A2/B3 - very 1st cut. Etching 'PEK'. Stampers 1-GP/1-RD. This is the very first iteration of this release with George Peckham's 'PEK' evident in the deadwax and 'Gramophone' still showing in the perimeter label text. Also please note very early 1st mother copies often exhibit a grammatical error on 'Anyone's Daughter' - missing that all important apostrophe! The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original fully textured gatefold sleeve. And let's do some fact checking here to assure buyers that this is a genuine 1st issue cover as a lot of swapping goes on with this title. Must be heavy textured inside and out [tick], constructed from one-piece of card [tick], with a wide-spine [tick]..there you have it..genuine 1st issue. Also included is the original lyric sheet and the original Harvest inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In truly fantastic condition and has seen only the very lightest of use. Under close inspection there are just a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Without a doubt the best rendition of Fireball I've witnessed - nigh on perfect and comes from a guy who basically archived his copies and they have seen very low-mileage. Interference is non-existent. All we could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments - literally. Even the quiet passages play super clean e.g. FOOLS. If you're looking for a top-level rendition which will smoke every other copy in existence...congratulations ..you just found it! FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) This grading on a copy of Fireball is nothing short of miraculous. The front is so nice it doesn't look far off new - and that really is not something you can say very often with this title. Very clean front and back without the usual creasing or heavy wear. A couple of super-light undulations on the rear, but I'm being extremely picky even mentioning them. The interior is nigh on perfect. Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings still sharp. Take a look at the spine! Have you ever seen a Fireball spine look like that.?.crazy good! Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity and I doubt I shall be witnessing one in this league for quite some time.
Lyric Sheet (Ex-) Great condition, but for a couple of slight smudges and a couple of slight creases.
Inner (Ex) No splits. Lightest ageing at extremities.
