Description

This is another sale from my collection of classical records, which includes early stereo rarities on Decca, Columbia, HMV and RCA.

1959 UK stereo pressing on Decca records of SXL 2086 Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade played by Paris Conservatoire Orchestra conducted by Ernest Ansermet. Label is grooved wide band. The label has “Original Recording by” at 10 O’clock. Sleeve is a scalloped flip back sleeve, first blue back border sleeve. The matrix numbers engraved on the run-out are ZAL-2369-3E and ZAL-2370-3E. The date code on the back cover in the bottom right hand corner is JU 58/11.

Grading

Visually graded the vinyl under a task lamp. Would visually grade as VG. There are light marks and light scratches on both sides of the label. It plays well on my Linn Sondek, no skips or jumps. On side 1 there is light crackle in places. Same on side 2 and band 2 has 5 ticks in one place. I would audio grade VG+. Sleeve is in VG. There is wear on corners and on the opening. There is some damage near the opening on the rear sleeve. I have tried my best to show all these things on the photos.

Note that record will be posted in a cardboard record mailer. Sleeve will be in a plastic sleeve, separate from the record and inner sleeve. Record and inner sleeve will be in a card sleeve.

Finally, please note that the posting costs will be as follows

Royal Mail Signed For 2nd Class £4.10 - UK

Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed For £17.50 - Worldwide
