Description
Over the next few weeks I will be selling some of the best pieces from my collection. I have worked in the record industry since the 1960s, and as a teenage plugger for Decca in the mid-60s I witnessed the birth of many of these 45s, and received the earliest copies of them. Many are promos, and there are demos and acetates aplenty. Bands represented include the Beatles, the Stones, Bowie and others, as well as legendary psychedelic one-offs.

On offer here is one of the rarest mod 45s of the 60s. Copies occasionally show up, but never in this sort of shape! Many people think this is David Bowie under a different name - but it isn't, sadly. However, it does have the catalogue number immediately preceding the rare Bowie 'Liza Jane' 45, which I sold in my last ebay auction.
CONDITION
Both labels are almost perfect, but have small writing in yellow crayon on them (see pictures) - the copy of the Bowie single pictured in last month's Record Collector also had this, which suggests that Vocalion's promo man was in the habit of writing track timings on the labels (for DJs) in chinograph pencil. They are probably removeable, but I will leave it to the high bidder to do so. The vinyl is clean and shiny on both sides, with small marks. There are no scratches, though - and it plays through beautifully. It's hard to believe a better copy of this rare single will ever show up.
