What a 45 record this is! Two GREAT sides! Frankly, I still don't know which one I like better. But just like with the Elvis singles, RCA Victor gives you 2 fabulous songs. I guess RCA Victor needed a backup in case Elvis didn't work out. This is true Rockabilly - recorded while it was still hot—before "the day the music died." I would love to know who's playing on these recordings along with David Hill. The guitar is great on both sides; perhaps Hank Garland...Chet Atkins...who knows?
BIG GUITAR
Fantastic mid-tempo Rockabilly/Rock 'n' Roll version of the Frank DeRosa instrumental tune, penned along with Robert Genovese. Larry Coleman added the lyrics. Incredible performance by Port Washington, New York Rockabilly star David Hill. Who knew that such great Rockabilly came out of New York (before Buddy Holly moved there)! The song was released on RCA Victor back in 1958, very shortly after Frank DeRosa original issued it on Dot. It was the third and last David Hill 45 on RCA Victor.

WILD CHILD
Fabulous uptempo rockabilly tune, penned by Luther Dixon (writer of Baby It's You, Boys, 16 Candles, and Soldier Boy) and Billy Dawn Smith. Another fabulous performance singer by David Hill. It was released back in 1958 on RCA Victor, with famed Space Age, Pop Music maker, later electronic Moog synthesizer musician Mort Garson arranging and conducting the orchestra. Hill has two previous releases on RCA Victor and one on Aladdin Records, all in Rockabilly/Rock 'n' Roll fashion. This version was released shortly after Donnie Elbert's on De Luxe, and shared the #1 ranked best version of the song along with Little Esther's on Warwick (released several years later). And what about Mort Garson?? With lyricist Bob Hilliard, he wrote one of the great lounge hits of the 1960s, "Our Day Will Come," a gigantic hit for Ruby and the Romantics.
