Vintage Limited Edition Talking Heads Speaking in Tongues Robert Rauschenberg tri-chromatic acetate design hand signed by David Byrne; a well articulated and exceptional signature from Mr. Byrne when compared with many others I have seen!
Clear vinyl LP is in very good condition and comes with all 3 original colored gels.
The LP acetate gels and packaging are in very good condition as well; the yellowing of the outside container is an unavoidable aspect of the polymer aging process.
This LP designed by the late Robert Rauschenberg was inspired by a work of his called 'Revolver' which involved 3 large circular panes of glass; each a separate hue and that when lined up properly creates a color balanced image; much like the older color TV screens that operated by modulating a mixture of red, blue and yellow dots.
This item was signed by David Byrne in 1995 at an art gallery in Chicago; David was there for his own opening of photographic works.
As part of this listing, I have supplied a photograph of David and I which was taken on the day of the art opening. The photo is not included as part of this sale.
About myself:
I am a poet, high school English teacher and avid collector who has sought autographs in and around the Chicagoland area for over 30 years.
I always obtain my pieces in person either at the venue or hotel.
Over the years, I have amassed a fair number of autographs and am currently paring down my collection. Having already displayed this particular item in my collection over 15 years, I am ready to put it up for bid at a reasonable price.
