Sleeve Condition: VERY GOOD.

Gatefold sleeve is in very good shape front, back & inside with some signs of fact that it's over 40 years old.  It has some spine rubs and corner scuffs as per photos.

Vinyl Condition, Visual: VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT.

A nice shiny copy with only a few hairline surface marks that generally don't affect play.

Vinyl Condition, Audible: EXCELLENT

Plays very well.  There's a mark on the second track side 1 that causes some light clicks towards the end of the track but nothing serious. Has some light surface noise only noticable in between tracks.

Label Condition: EXCELLENT.

Has some spindle marks, and a little ring wear, otherwise generally very clean.

Review:

Originally released by Philips in the UK as David Bowie and by Mercury in the U.S. as Man of Words/Man of Music, it was reissued by RCA Records in 1972 under its current title.

Regarding its mix of folk, balladry and prog rock, NME editors Roy Carr and Charles Shaar Murray have said, "Some of it belonged in '67 and some of it in '72, but in 1969 it all seemed vastly incongruous. Basically, David Bowie can be viewed in retrospect as all that Bowie had been and a little of what he would become, all jumbled up and fighting for control..."[1]

Held to be "the first Bowie album proper",[2] and his first deemed worthy by record companies of regular reissue, Space Oddity featured a notable list of collaborators, including session players Herbie Flowers, Tim Renwick, Terry Cox, and Rick Wakeman, as well as cellist Paul Buckmaster, multi-instrumentalist and producer Tony Visconti, and bassist John Lodge (not to be confused with The Moody Blues' bassist of the same name). Before recording for the album commenced, the song "Space Oddity" had been selected as the lead single based on an earlier demo.[3] Tim Renwick, John 'Honk' Lodge, Mick Wayne and John Cambridge - all from the band 'Junior's Eyes' - featured on the album sessions and briefly served as Bowie's backing band for live appearances and on an October 1969 BBC Radio session.[4][5][6] Tony Visconti saw it as a "novelty record" and passed the production responsibility on to Gus Dudgeon.[2] Visconti thus produced all the songs on the album bar what would become, from its 1972 reissue onwards, the title track.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in the sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (US version of this term: Near Mint): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in the sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (US version of this term: VG++): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover, or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (US version of this term: VG): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits etc.
