RCA Victor APL1-0998 – In Original Shrink Wrap with Hype Sticker
Offered here is a very nice copy of Young Americans by David Bowie on RCA Victor (APL1-0998), complete with the original shrink wrap and hype sticker. This is a highly collectible original 1975 issue of one of Bowie’s most important albums, with EX vinyl, a beautifully preserved cover, and original inserts included.
About the Release
Released in March 1975, Young Americans marked a major stylistic shift for David Bowie as he moved away from glam rock and into a soul- and R&B-influenced sound he famously described as “plastic soul.” Recorded in Philadelphia and New York, the album features standout tracks such as “Young Americans,” “Fascination,” and “Fame,” the latter becoming Bowie’s first number-one single in the United States. The record remains one of the key transitional albums in Bowie’s catalog and an essential release from his mid-1970s period.
For collectors, original RCA Victor APL1-0998 pressings remain especially desirable because they capture the album in its first U.S. issue with period-correct labels, runout information, and packaging. Copies that still retain the original shrink wrap and hype sticker are even more appealing, since those features add both display value and evidence of careful long-term preservation.
