David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World RCA Black Labels LSP 4816 BPRS 4512 UK 1982 Pressing Matrix Side 1 - Etched LSP 4816 BPRS 4512-3E W A2B JA Matrix Side 2 - Stamped BPRS 4513 1E-B Etched LSP 4816 A2R
I am not 100% sure on the pressing but the closest matrix and sleeve match I could find was a 1982 pressing. Strange as the rest of the collection I have acquired are earlier.
I am a big Nirvana fan and one of my favourite tracks is their cover of The Man Who Sold The World so I have always had a soft spot for this track but I was surprised at what a great album it is. Very underrated compared to the other more commercial albums and with production by Tony Visconti sounds wonderful.
This is a very clean and great sounding example and will make a great collector piece, close to being one of mine.
I have bought these from a private collector who cherishes his records and when I play them back it's such a nice feeling to hear that clean crisp perfect sound. So much so a couple of them have found there way to my shelf.
All of my records are play tested on a Project Debut Carbon with 2M Red stylus which is quite revealing so any sound defects may be more exaggerated than on other more mainstream players. Or conversely if you are a full on audiophile I will let you judge how your set up compares and how you envisage the sound will compare.
I don't currently have access to a cleaning machine so please forgive any dust or finger marks which are on any of my records - hopefully will be investing in one at some point.
Record Appearance - NM With Mint being reserved for sealed records these are as good as new. No marks or scratches even under bright light and perfect glossy finish. The record sits tightly on the spindle indicating very little play. Labels just show light spindle marks under bright light.
Record Audio - NM Plays as good as it looks no surface noise even between tracks. Particularly wonderful sound quality on this pressing, vintage Visconti like the classic T-Rex records of the same era. Why am I selling this...
Record Sleeve - VG+/NM Very close to Near Mint just light shelf wear on the corners and the odd scuff on the spine. These black sleeves normally wear terribly with lots of ring wear but this is in wonderful condition. Edges and spine nice and solid and barely a hint of ring wear under bright light. Inner is a plain white paper sleeve and is in good condition. Includes the poster which is in as new condition, a rare find.
