An original 1st press of Space Oddity on the UK RCA label. Please note the original recording of this title was actually back in '69 on Philips. Given that Bowie was a relative unknown in '69 these copies are now highly sought after. What you have here is the very 1st pressing on RCA as the company made a huge push to get Bowie into the main stream. Matrix 1E/1E [1st cut]. Note the labels mentions the 'Titanic' publishing credits and indicates this copy comes from early 1972. This copy actually predates STARDUST - the title that would finally push Bowie into the big-time Summer '72. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with NO mention of 'Mainman' on the rear - these are the 1st issues. There's also the lyric inner sleeve, AND THE POSTER. We will ship in a poly-lined inner for maximum protection. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a few slight marks per side. One mark right at the start of Janine is semi-feelable and does cause issue [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one deviation. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. A really clean player which will give you maximum opportunity to take in these classic tracks to full effect. Bowie was already in top form by '69 as is clear from this collection of songs. He just had to wait for the public to catch up! Very little background observable at all, even in the quietest moments. There is, however, one issue right at the start of Janine. A small mark causes a couple of skips in the acoustic guitar [side 2]. This occurs right at the start - before Bowie starts up with "M-y-love, Ja-n-ine". Setting this one issue aside the rest of the LP plays near perfect. Extremely impressive.
Cover (Ex-) Can often end up looking a bit beleaguered - but this example is looking very tidy. Clean front and back with very little creasing at all. Very little edge wear and the openings are still sharpish. The spine is fully intact with all text legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. Very nice indeed!
Inner (Ex-) Really nice condition with perhaps slight touch of ageing. No splits.
Poster (Ex) Faultless - never been near a wall.
