Description
David Bowie's self-titled LP (commonly known as the "Space Oddity" album) released in 1969 on Philips (SBL-7912). Early UK stereo pressing with gatefold cover and black labels with silver print. This is the *unassigned credits* label variation with "Copyright Control" printed next to the "Essex Music, Int., Ltd." credit on the labels. This label variation came out when they made a correction on the labels during the pressing runs. The cover is VG++ (or better) with slight shelf wear on the front and back, some rubbing on the panels inside the gatefold, light wear on the upper seam, two small crescent-shaped finger creases on the back cover near the center of the opening, and the back cover is slightly wavy. The vinyl is M- with some very faint angelhair sleeve lines from the ancient poly-lined inner that are only visible under critical light. The side 2 label has a small spindle mark noticeable at the center hole.
I use oversized LP mailers with layers of strategically placed bubble wrap to fully protect the cover's corners and edges during transit. Sealed albums are pressure strapped between cardboard flats to clamp down on the vinyl inside and prevent splits.
The grading scale I use is: M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG-, ...
