Description
I am reluctantly selling the second tranche of my precious – and rare – Bowie albums. For speed, I have only included pics of the front and back covers but, rest-assured, the records and any inserts will be as per described and if any purchaser is not satisfied with what they have bought I will accept a full refund (Buyer to pay for return postage of the item). Most of the covers show a sticker (top left) outlining the items including the condition of the sleeve and record(s). These are my own stickers (for my own filing system) and are affixed to a clear plastic outer sleeve (not the actual record sleeve.
All items have a £1 starting bid with no minimum bid.
ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC RECORD:
The Man Who Sold The World
Mercury SR 61325 Stereo - RED
Near Mint sleeve. Near Mint labels.
USA
This is an original, first issue (not counterfeit) due tothe stamped matrix numbers and positioning of the speech bubble on the back cover
This, the US version, was the first Man Who Sold TheWorld to be issued (even before the UK) and Tony Defries (Bowie’s manager atthe time) was creating hype to DJs, journalists etc that this record had sold50,000 copies in the USA. The reality was that only 1,395 had been sold! It hadbeen a flop!
Armed with this information, RCA then cut the print run ofthe UK (dress cover) of this album to around 500 copies (which is what that isnow so rare).
Non-hole-punched version making it super rare.
If you are buying more than one item, please DO NOT PAY until I have contacted you after the sale. I will calculate the weight (and cost) of the multiple albums and will send you the ACTUAL postage cost for the multiple purchase.
Thank you.
