Description
An original UK 1st press of Hunky Dory on the RCA label from December 1971. Matrix 3T/3T. Etching 'Bobil/Rasputin'. No references to 'Main Main'...publishing credits are Titanic [indicative of 1st issue]. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original front-laminated cover. It is believed that the copies that were produced around Xmas 1971 are the very 1st issues with lamination. And remember BOWIE only became a bona fide star during the summer of 1972 with Stardust - so these copies, by definition, are pretty few and far between. Also included is the original lyric inner sleeve. So, 100% original and 100% complete.
Cover (Vg+) In very decent condition and has clearly been looked after down the years. That lamination on the front has protected the image of BOWIE and it shows, it is well preserved. There are a few creases at the edges, but nothing that significant. The rear is in great condition too despite not benefiting from the lamination - there's a bit of handling wear. Edge wear is light except on the spine where some of the text is becoming difficult to read, but at no point is it worn through. Overall the cover still retains good rigidity and remains a terrific example of this hard to find original.
Vinyl (Vg+) In very nice shape despite having seen a moderate level of use. Under close inspection there are a number of light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. So, please do not expect a mint looking record. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, VERYGOOD+ level of playback. The audio quality is very addictive! You are going to notice some static in a few places. It's nowhere close to being invasive, but it will be audible more so in the quieter tracks. Many of the tracks play really very very nice. And, I guess, it does help being one of the all time great albums!
Lyric Sheet (Vg+) Some light handling wear - nothing serious. All intact with no markings.
