Description
Here we have an original UK 1971, First pressing of David Bowie’s Hunky Dory album with the 3T matrix bobil/Rasputin mastering, housed within the beautiful, original Laminated cover. This has the GEM logo on the rear and is one of the earlier versions including BOTH inserts, the lyric insert AND the VERY RARE Sepia coloured insert of the cover shot.
The sleeve is in Excellent condition with the laminate only lifted slightly in a couple of spots on the left-hand side as you look at it and a couple of very minor creases on the same left-hand side. Please see photograph. The rear of the sleeve is also in excellent condition. The spine is beautifully intact and there is hardly any shelf edge wear around the edges at all.
The lyric insert is in excellent condition with only a couple of very minor handling creases. It looks lighter in the photo than it actually is due to the lighting conditions when I took the photo, although this original insert is nowhere near as dark as the ones on subsequent reissues.
The sepia colour print of the cover shot also looks lighter than it actually is in the photo too. This insert is also in excellent condition.
The labels are the shiny, orange RCA originals and both in excellent condition with the side 2 label having a couple of very small, white spots that appear to be printing flaws. See photo.
Both sides of the vinyl have retained their beautiful glossy sheen and look excellent. Having said that, side 1 has what could be a minor pressing flaw of a few spots on the last track of that side, Quicksand, and the runout plastic in the region near where the number 1 is printed on the label. Please see photo. These spots DO NOT AFFECT the playback. Play testing it reveals minor noise (odd pop/crackle) on run-in and run-out plastic and in some quieter sections and in-between some tracks. None of this detracts from the listening enjoyment and it has a truly wonderful sound.
