Description

David Bowie - "Do Anything You Say" 1966 - PYE group records.

This is the advance pressing acetate of the official single (PYE 7N17079). Recorded with The Buzz (Bowie's band at that time) it was actually the first single to be credited simply to David Bowie (thereby inaugurating his solo career).

Note: this is the single-track advance pressing acetate of the single (which was later released with the b-side "Good Morning Girl" and failed to chart). This is not the officially released single.

The recording plays through from beginning to end without skipping and with good sound quality for the main part. However, there is a small paint smudge (I realise this is almost tantamount to desecration of a cultural artefact!) that impairs the sound quality a bit for around 20 seconds, but does not cause the song to skip and actually does not affect the recording as much as you might expect. Refer to the pictures in the listing to see the offending smudge.

This is a very rare collector's item and as such should not be subjected to regular playing. It is also a significant recording marking a key moment in Bowie's embryonic solo career and would be a valuable addition to any serious collection of his work.
