READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality.
They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute.
Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
David Bowie 2-LP 1973 Images 1966-1967, London Records, EX/ VG+!
Vinyl--- EX/EX. VG+/VG+. LP 1 has only one or maybe two isolated and very light lines per side in a sea of glass reflection. LP 2 has more like two or three, and they’re a little longer, but just as light. Beautiful set!
Plates--- SAHS-1632-1/ SAHS-1633-1. SAHS-1634-1/ SAHS-1635-4. All four sides machine-stamped with “Bestway,” “Bell Sound” and “sf.” Definitely a NY pressing. First 3 sides are 1 plates, meaning that they were the very first (and therefore best) sound quality-pressed plates. Side 1 has “Bestway” stamped twice.
Definitely a very early pressing from this limited run.
Cover--- VG. Name written in ballpoint at top right. Has moderate dirtwear and ringwear on front and back. Some shelfwear to the top and bottom seams. Album pockets each have about a 1 ½-inch split, one at the top, one at the bottom. Spine has a lot of slick worn off. Gatefold seam has a center split about 1 ½-inch as well.
Labels--- NM/NM. NM/NM. All four labels look 1973-new!
Inner Sleeves--- London/Parrot inner sleeves are both present and in Excellent condition. Both sleeves lie flat, very little wrinkling, hardly any finger divots. Just a little yellowing over the last 51 years. NO SPLITS.
Generic white inner sleeves will be provided, so as not to damage your original London inner sleeves en route.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
