Description

An original copy of David Allan Coe's second, rarest and most unusual LP, 1970's Requiem For a Harlequinn ( SSS International SSS-31).  Cover is VG+.  Record is VG++/EX, super quiet, shiny & clean.

Requiem for a Harlequin:

This sequel to Penitentiary Blues" is again the notes of a Blues singing ex-con.  However what's striking about this album is the brutal, bleak urban imagery.  The sensitivity he is to display on this Columbia album manifests itself more as perceptiveness, as he vividly describes "an asphalt jungle," filled with predatory junkies, whores and misfits.  It's a concept album, exploring these things to extremes, and it more an album-lengthed poem than a conventional series of sung songs.  This is one of the hardest to find DAC records, one of the most unusual, and it also has one of the best titles!

This is the SECOND full-length release & Single-Hardest to find album by David Allan Coe.  The original album was simply labeled "Side One: The Beginning" & "Side Two" The End".  These songs tell the story of a young David Allan Cole, & his life, in what he calls, "The Asphalt Jungle".  This is the follow up album to Penitentiary Blues and the last of the original material albums with Shelby Singleton's (SSS) name on it.  Any other SSS album is simply a compilation album of David's later Columbia releases.  I prefer paypal.  Money orders ok.
