Description

An original stereo pressing of SS on the UK CBS label from 1962 just two years after 1st release. Matrix 2/2. Please note that whilst these are CBS labels this is technically/has the credentials of an early Philips pressing. CBS didn't command pressing plant in the UK until 1964. Also worth bearing in mind that during the early sixties 'stereo' was a very niche format making these early copies very difficult to track down. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original <stereo> cover printed by Garrod & Lofthouse. Also included is the original inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) A really sweet looking copy which has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of slight deviations. Very nice clean audio with great clarity and resolution for the most part. Interference is both minor and relatively infrequent. Expect a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments on Side 1. And then there's a few tracks on side 2 where it slips below the given grade. Expect a touch of low-level static in places. Nothing intrusive [not even close to being], but I need to be 100% open about it so no one gets disappointed. Truly a great pressing and a great rendition to boot.
Cover (Ex) Wow, given it's from '62 this is one hell of a good looking cover. Lovely shiny front without the usual ageing or heaving creasing. I can make out only two slight creases on the front. The rear is almost totally unaged, just a couple of tiny blemish marks. All flipbacks are secure and intact. Edge wear is very light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Excellent condition. Lightest ageing, bit at the opening. No splits or markings though.
