redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This handsome gatefold LP from Reference Recordings (RR-40, US pressing, black/silver label, stereo) features the remarkable clarinetist Eddie Daniels in supremely eloquent and lyrical accounts of Brahms’s Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B minor Op. 115 and Carl Maria von Weber’s Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B-flat Major Op. 34, both works made with The Composers String Quartet.
The Composers String Quartet was comprised of Matthew Raimondi (1st violin), Anahid Ajemian (2nd violin), Mark Schuman (cello), and Ronald Carbone (viola).
Both performances were set down in the rich acoustics of the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy, New York, during 4-6 September 1990 (producer: J. Tamblyn Henderson, Jr. / engineer: Keith O. Johnson). The memorable cover photo of Eddie Daniels was taken by Richard Erdoes. The interior panels of the gatefold jacket carry authoritative liner notes by Harris Goldsmith, printed in English only.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is minor bumping at corners, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners' markings or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy and highly attractive – an outstanding collector's copy.
The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.
