Description

"DUKE JORDAN - Flight to Jordan" - Blue Note 4046.

Recorded in the Rudy Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, on August 4th, 1960, this classic LP which consists entirely of Duke Jordan's compositions as well as his swinging bop piano, includes Dizzy Reece, trumpet; Stanley Turrentine, tenor sax; Reginald Workman, bass; Art Taylor, drums. The tunes are "Flight to Jordan," "Starbrite," "Squawkin'," "Deacon Joe," "Split Quick," "Si-Joya."

This is a genuine original Blue Note pressing, with the deep groove, "RVG" and the "ear" in the trail-off, and "47 West 63rd, NYC" on both labels.

Record is in excellent condition, with slight detritus on labels due to some over-eager cleaning; the jacket is near-mint with superb liner notes by Leonard Feather, minor soiling on back, no splits (see photos); disc has been professionally cleaned and is protected in a Nagaoka anti-static sleeve. I am the second owner; I bought this in 1962, played it a few times, and it has sat in climate-controlled conditions ever since. I just made a digital version from the LP for my archives, and was very happy with the audio - no problems at all.
