DUKE ELLINGTON / BOB THOMPSON / JACK LEONARD 16 INCH, BLACK LACQUER ACETATE 33 1/3 RPM DISC. THIS DISC WAS RECORDED FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY AND NOT AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. VERY RARE!
Side One: "Royal Garden Blues" Bob Thompson, "I Don't Know Why" Jack Leonard with vocal. This side of the label states "copy glass base - unissued V-Disc Safety #152 7-18-45"
Side Two: Duke Ellington Carnegie Hall Concert 11-13-48 part 12 of 12. This disc contains the last 9 1/2 minutes of this concert, and there is a couple of seconds of the band talking after the music. Songs include "Just Sittin' & Rockin" vocal Ben Webster, "Trumpets No End" (a take on "Blue Skies"). Personnel announced on the last song include trumpet players Ray Nance, Al Killian, Francis Williams, Shelton Hemphill, Al Baker. The white label on this side appears to be placed on top of a CBS Columbia Reference Recording label
Disc is in Excellent or better Condition with Excellent+ or better sound, Beautiful Disc!
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer
