DORIS TROY ORIGINAL 1970 APPLE SAPCOR 13 VINYL LP IN LAMINATED SLEEVE A2 + B1 STAMPER CODES
Sleeve Condition: Closed tear to opening edge, neatly repaired with clear tape, slight rubbing, inevitable with a solid black sleeve. Otherwise, Ex+ condition.
Record Condition: Ex+, maybe even Near Mint. Just the merest hint of a handling mark on Side 2, almost invisible. Otherwise the whole surface of both sides are spotless with the original, shiny bloom one expects from a new record. Plays flawlessly. A simply lovely copy.
An amazing, all-star cast supported Troy on this lone Apple outing: George Harrison, Billy Preston, Peter Frampton, Stephen Stills, Klaus Voormann, Jackie Lomax, Eric Clapton, Leon Russell, and Delaney & Bonnie all contributed, and Harrison, Stills, Lomax, Preston, Voormann, and Ringo Starr pitched in on the songwriting, though Troy wrote or co-wrote most of the songs.
Though well-received by some critics, the album really didn’t get picked up by the record buying public and it disappeared without much recognition or commercial success at the time. This makes it now one of the hardest to find, Apple LPs as an original. Troy is in great voice and it works best when Troy switches from the hard rock, ‘Apple-sound’ to deliver emotional, slower soul tunes.
