PARAPSYCHO Lp by DORIS NORTON with group (including an uncredited TULLIO DE PISCOPO on drums and HUGO HEREDIA on flute ;) Original Italian promo pressing on DISCO PIU label (DP 39021), from 1981. Radical session with decadent moods by the Italian synth queen. Quite possibly her best and most eclectic recording, Norton was a pioneer of early electronic / computer music in Italy who favoured the innovations in analog synth and sequencer technology of the Roland Corporation. The Parapsycho Lp is a killer example of her experimental sound. From ambient dub with hip hop tempo drums / alien techno with synth guitar and weird vocals (think spooky Kenneth Anger underground film score or avantgarde Sun Ra electronic jamming) to funkier themes with shades of Giorgio Moroder or mixing proto metal rock with a post punk asthetic. Our soundclip opens with the killer Trio Giolo - Klithia sounding hip hop beats and stoned fuzz of TELEPATHIA followed by a sample of space disco style groove edited from HYPNOTISED BY NORTON then the insane synth-fest cum industrial techno vibe of PSYCHIC RESEARCH / the atmospheric prog soundscapes and mellow hip hop of LUDUS (ASTRAL VOYAGE) / the full HYPNOTISED BY NORTON theme (featuring the funky live drum skills of Tullio De Piscopo and flute of Hugo Heredia) and the enchanting TEARS that sounds not unlike a giallo thriller cum horror film lullaby with Edda-esque vocals by Norton. Our soundclip finishes with the punky vocals - synths and metal rock guitars of PARAPSYCHO. Great for DJs. Lots of beats / loops and samples. Legend has it that LUDUS was the inspiration behind Laura Palmer's Theme by composer Angelo Badalamenti for his Twin Peaks film score. Striking artwork sleeve. Rare Lp!!!
