That means this record (which books at $150-$300 in this condition) is available for an opening bid of $49.99 with no reserve! To be any more generous, I'd hafta be givin' the thing away!

Unlike some dealers, I have taken the trouble to give you an honest play grade on a very rare record (see details below). This is a no-B.S. sweet copy that plays in the VG+ range (side 1 even better!). But I need to sell it. I'm going to Austin next month for the convention & need some to play around with. The Doors "Strange Days." EKL-40141 (mono). 1967. This is the first variation, with mono numbers on the front & back cover but a stereo number on the spine. The brown/gold Elektra label (pictured) carries the correct mono catalog number (as above). Run-off wax: EKL 4014 (LP).

This is the genuine article.

This copy includes the original inner sleeve, with lyrics. Interestingly, it too gives a stereo catalog number.

Condition

Cover: VG++/Excellent. A bit of edging top left corner & on the spine. That's it. No ring wear, no flecking to front cover. Very close to NM.

Inner Sleeve: VG+

Vinyl Visual: Grades a Strong VG. Multiple superficial stylus marks, none severe. No deep scratches or pressing defects. Excellent gloss & color.

Play Grade: I spun this on my home system ($500 Garrott cartridge, DBX studio amps, Klipsch RP-5 speakers) & I'm play-grading it a solid VG+. It plays substantially better than it looks.

There is very little surface noise during the soft passages (in many cases none at all) & only occasional pops. No skips. Side 1 sounds terrific, especially "Love me Two Times," which sounds way tougher in mono. That song alone tempted me to keep the record.

"When the Music's Over" has several patches with surface noise, though it is not persistent (.5-1.5 seconds each time). This was the only hiccup on my rig. Granted it's not a gold-standard audiophile reference system, but it's certainly a better than average.

A modest reserve for a geniunely rare item.

Condition Grades:  I use Goldmine grading system. All records graded conservatively under direct light (120 watt spot flood).

M=Mint =New, =Un-played & in perfect condition)
NM=Near Mint. As new! Close to perfect condition)
VG++/Excellent=Very Good Double Plus or Excellent. Not an official Goldmine grade. I use this to indicate records that are a cut below NM but definitely better than VG+ as per Goldmine. This should be considered a very desirable grade for older [mid sixties and back] records.
VG+ =Very Good Plus = slight wear, but still a quality copy.)
VG (=Very Good =The most misunderstood grade. A VG record has substantial but superficial wear. The buyer should expect that it will play through, though perhaps w/ noise).
G (=Good: wear and scratches; the record was played a lot, but should still play through without skips. I only offer very rare records in this condition.)
